Hi Mary, Just got onto your website. It is so fun to hear about your travels. When I was in China this summer, I was amazed at how well behaved and content the children seemed. They were very happy with very little. How do you like eating with chop sticks? How do you like the food? It is a cultural change! What also amazed me about the Chinese people was that they really knew their Chinese history.
A little NE news.... Nebraska got beat today 62-28.(Approx) It was BAD! Oklahoma killed us!
I saw Doug & Linda D. on a plane as we were heading to Sedona, AZ and they were heading to CA. Small world....except when you are in China!!! Keep BLOGGIN'!!! Lynn
Depends, in the kindergarten, there were 15 per class with 2 teachers; elementary...there were 64 in a 2nd grade classroom; middle school about 40-50 students; high school, I don't know...
Teacher report the same issues as we have (discipline...) have issues with helicopter parents (the teachers we talked too understood this term...).
We saw the Terra Cotta warriors today. Amazing! I'm getting good with the chopsticks and think I might continue with them when I get home. It's much more exercise when I eat and I think I'm eating less, although much more often! The food has been great. We had a hot pot one night. That's been the favorite so far. The school tours were good, large numbers in classrooms (64 in a second grade room). They had a library and I'll have stories about it. We visit the village schools tomorrow. You're right, they know their history. AND...it's such a rich, long history. Difficult to comprehend artifacts from 2200 years ago.
YAY- So fun to see Aunt Mary in China (and you found a coat)!!! I love the blog- thanks to all of you for taking the time to share your news, events, and thoughts. Mary - I'm going to have to stay home longer than Scott in December just to soak in all your stories. The students are adorable :) I mean, why wouldn't we want a classroom full of say 64 little Annaliese's in Wisconsin??? That could work :) Ha!
A huge thank you to Dr. David Lou and the Confucius Institute for giving us this opportunity to learn about the culture and the educational system of China. We became more thoughtful members of the global community with this experience.

How many children in a classroom and how many teachers per room. Are they better behaved than ours?
Glad you're having a great time.

That many little Anna people running around all day. No teacher pay would be enough!
